Fun Monday

Dudley

Lizzie

Here's our assignment this Monday, from
Sayre Smiles:

"Since Monday is a holiday, I wanted something easy - and chose something I'm sure has been done before... So here goes:
I want to see your furbabies. Or scalebabies. Or finbabies. Whatever form your pet takes, I want to see a picture of it/them and hear the story of how it/they came to be a part of your family."

We've been married 45 years, and have had dogs, and lots of other animals for most of those years. Dudley and Lizzie are dogs number 9 and 10. They're both Cairn Terriers, and they're both recues; that's where the similarity ends. Dudley, 9 years old, lived with two different families, before coming to Murrieta. Lizzie, 12 years old, lived with a dog breeder who treated her as an object, not a family pet.

They're both great dogs and were very lucky to have found them. BTW, see that sweet face on Lizzie? She has you fooled, she's a killer. Small four footed animals or birds are not safe in our yard; from lizards to rabbits, dead, if they're in our yard. Taking a walk around the neighborhood; she's not interested, but watch out in the yard. Dudly loves to play and runs like the wind.

  1. Killer- no way they both look too cute for that. Lovely pictures, they look like they would be good company. When I see all these lovely dogs I sometimes regret not having another. It wouldn't work now my mother is frailer but I sometimes baby sit my niece's dog.

  2. Lucky Dudley and Lizzie. I worry about some of the smaller, cute breeds that, as you say, they're treated like objects or possessions, not living creatures. I'll bet these two make great walking partners?

Oddly enough, I'm reading a "dog" book this weekend "Lost & Found" by Jacqueline Sheehan. Have you read? It's very original.

  3. Obviously Lizzie considers her yard her territory and unless you are invited, stay out!!!

I love their sweet faces - I'll bet they're great company and have bigger personalities than those little bodies can hold!

  5. They are so cute, I like that breed and was considering getting one, but decided it didn't fit our life style. Thanks for sharing Jan and Happy FM

  6. I thought they were Scotties at first, but their faces are too pretty for that. Cute little guys.

  7. Lizzie does not feel threatened when she is on her own turf. She is protecting her territory. They are both SOOOOOO cute! I love that breed of dog. I have always had a big dog and I would love to one day own a small/med. size dog like a terrier.

  8. my parents dogs are famous for digging up moles and finding other things to kill and eat or drag up from god knows where to eat. so I can relate. My post is finally up.
