Can you guess which one of the following books has NOT been banned or challenged:
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
All Quiet on the Western Front
Candide
The Da Vinci Code
Dick and Jane
Fanny Hill*
The Grapes of Wrath
Lady Chatterley's Lover
Mein Kampf
A Million Little Pieces
Nineteen Eighty-Four
To Kill A Mockingbird
Ulysses
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Which one did you guess? The answer is A Million Little Pieces.
*Banned twice by the US, in 1821 and 1963; this is the last book banned in the US.
I try to read a Banned Book during the BB Week.. I read The Absolutely True Story of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. It was wonderful! Intended audience are 14 year old boys. The book is so inspirational, realistic, and anti-alcohol written in a way that certainly would appeal to boys.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. I've read the majority of these, but don't recall Fanny Hill or A Million little pieces. I'll definitely add them to my list for future reads.
